A PDF download of My Lord and My God workbook. LICENCE FOR ONE COPY.
What it's about: My Lord and My God is the fourth part of the Way of the Spirit Bible reading course, based on the My Lord and My God Bible reading guide.
It covers the story of the time after the exile when God's work of preparing his people drew to its close, focusing particularly on books (not all post-exilic) that sustained their faith through praise and contemplation of God's nature as they waited for Christ's coming, and then to review literature in the New Testament that likewise feeds our spirits as we wait for his return.
The books you will be studying are therefore mainly the more worshipful and meditative ones, and those that reflect more deeply on Christ's Lordship and the challenges of daily living for us as we wait for him:
- • Old Testament: Lamentations, Ezra, Nehemiah, Ruth, Jonah, Esther, Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Psalms, Song of Songs, Daniel.
- • New Testament: John, 1-3 John, Philippians, Philemon, Colossians, Ephesians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, James, 1 & 2 Peter, Jude.
The main themes of this study are God's sovereignty and his wisdom, our worship and our contemplation of his nature, the Lordship of Christ and the challenges of discipleship.
How to use it: Although you may use this study prayerfully on its own, it is designed primarily as a weekly workbook to accompany the reading guide, supported by a set of 20 minute talks, one for each week's readings. The talks are available as downloadable MP3 files.
