What it's about: Heirs of the Prophets is the third part of the Way of the Spirit Bible reading course, based on the Heirs of the Prophets Bible reading guide.

It covers the history and teaching of the prophets from the time of Samuel on, tracing the part they played in Israel's revivals, studying their warnings of judgment, examining their vision of the future, and seeing how their hope and experience came alive again in Christ's ministry and in the life of the early Church.

The books you will be studying are therefore mainly historical and prophetic ones, plus selected passages from Acts and Paul's letters:

• Old Testament: 1 Samuel - 2 Kings, Isaiah - Malachi.

• New Testament: Luke, Acts, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Revelation.

The main themes of this study are prophecy and revival, judgment and repentance, vision and hope, the work of the Spirit, Jesus as Prophet and the Church as charismatic.

How to use it: Although you may use this study prayerfully on its own, it is designed primarily as a weekly workbook to accompany the reading guide, supported by a set of 20 minute talks, one for each week's readings. The talks are available as downloadable MP3 files.
